Covered CA Premium Payments

Most of you who enrolled for a January 1st effective date have received your invoices and paid your first month’s premium.  If you have not, then you need to contact your health plan and Covered CA right away to determine the status of your account. 

If you have paid your first premium but have not received ID cards, check your Covered CA account to see if your status shows as “enrolled” or “pending.”  If it shows as “enrolled” then your payment has posted and ID cards and policy information should be on their way to you.  If it shows as “pending,”  call your health plan to check the status of your payment.  Several of our members have had to send proof of payment in order for the health plans to track and properly process their payments.

If you’re worried about your FEBRUARY 2014 payment, you should also contact your carrier to find out how to pay.  (See updates on individual carriers, below.) 

When you enroll in a plan through Covered CA, your enrollment information is sent from Covered CA to your health plan.  The health plan enters your enrollment data in their system and generates an invoice to be mailed with information about how to pay premiums.  You will need information from your invoice in order to pay your initial premium.  YOU ARE NOT ENROLLED UNTIL YOUR FIRST PAYMENT IS MADE. (Last update 2/15/14)

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE A PAYMENT WITHOUT THE INVOICE NUMBER OR OTHER REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FROM YOUR HEALTH PLAN.  THIS RESULTS IN LOST PAYMENTS AND DELAYED ENROLLMENT.

*** Additional Information on Health Net – Updated 2/15/14  ***
New Health Net members can use this Health Net Simple Pay Option form to pay their premium to Health Net.  This can be used for both Covered CA plans, or direct individual Health Net plans.  Members can choose an automatic bank draft each month or a one time payment utilizing an automatic bank draft or credit card.  The fax and email contacts are at the top of the form. 

If a member does not yet have a subscriber ID number, they can obtain it online by visiting www.healthnet.com/getmyid.

*** UPDATE on Anthem Blue Cross – Updated 2/15/14 ***
The enrollment process has improved and members should be receiving invoices in a more timely manner.  Anthem reminds members to pay the invoice as soon as it arrives since enrollment can’t be completed until payment is made.  See the “How to Pay” page for contact information.  

 *** UPDATE on Kaiser 2/15/14 ***
Kaiser is sending invoices by mail, but has also initiated an outbound calling campaign to reach out to members who may wish to pay by phone.
